Tourism is a very
important component of Tunisian economy. It represents the second best foreign
currencies source after petroleum.
It has been developed since 1960’s
and it is continuously progressing: from 105.000 visitors in 1963, they became
2.1 millions in 1981 and 3.5 millions in 1992. Hotel substructures are excellent.
Besides Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir
and Djerba (these are famous complexes), you have recently developing areas like
Tabarka, Tozeur, Nefta and Douz.
Thalassotherapy and golf are now completing
the palette of a destination in vogue.
Few years ago, the country is engaged
in diversifying its tourist production. Southern Tunisia is the first pillar in
renewing tourism. In the area of Tozeur, a visitor can discover a wide range of
sport and cultural activities. It is so real, that European tourists are surprised
by the beauty of breath-taking landscapes: a smart mixture between dunes and oases.
